Debbie Richardson
Debbie is a committed community leader and advocate, deeply passionate about democratic principles and grassroots involvement. She served as Secretary of the Women Democrats for four years and is currently the President.
With a strong political acumen and a commitment to inclusive civic engagement, her work is driven by a belief in empowering individuals and communities through collaboration and advocacy, and she brings organizational expertise, strong organizational skills and an unwavering commitment to collective progress to her role as a board member.

Immediate Past President
Sandra Hazel
Sandra has been a member of WDSC since 2017. She previously served as Secretary from 2019-2021 and served as Treasurer from 2021-2023. From 2023-2025, Sandra served as the President. Sandra is a retired Public Safety Dispatcher.

Dawn Basciano
Dawn is WDSC's Vice President for 2026-2027.

New to this role in 2025, Ariane Lyons is continuing as our Fundraising Chair for 2026-2027.

For 2026-2027, Sue Litsey again holds the role of Membership Director.

Political Affairs Director
Brenda Borge
As a retired educator, and life-long Democrat, I have been a member of the Sacramento Women's Democratic Club for many years. As a past school board candidate, I was endorsed by the Women's Dems and have also participated in the club's candidate endorsements of various Sacramento Area races, so I am excited to serve as the club's Political Affairs Director again for 2026-2027. I have a strong background and connection to Labor, having served several years as President. PAC Chair, Bargaining Chair, and Secretary of my local teacher's association here in Sacramento. I earned degrees at UC Davis (undergrad), University of California (Master's in Education), and CSU Sacramento (teaching credentials), and am dedicated to volunteerism, community service, and electing great women democrats as well as those who are advocates and champions of democracy and women's rights.

Linda Reed-Nikkel
Linda Reed has a degree in Social Science from UC Davis, a Teaching Credential, and a Masters in Humanities. After years in retail elsewhere, she was hired by Macy's as an executive, where she stayed for 10 years. Ms. Reed-Nikkel then went into education for almost 30 years, teaching English and helping to develop a new 4-year Academy for high school students based on Civic Education. She became Coordinator of the Program and headed up projects and development for the next 13 years. Civic Education has been her focus for most of her career and in her retirement.
